Join the Soil Systems Lab! We are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive lab environment, where learning is fun and lab members feel supported. We welcome students and postdocs interested in understanding and modeling soil carbon cycling at local and global scales. See our main research topics here:
Prospective graduate students – I welcome inquiries from potential graduate students who are motivated, have strong quantitative skills and a background in environmental science, engineering, geosciences, ecology, or ecological modeling. Prospective students are encouraged to contact me prior to applying. Please send me an email with your CV, as well as a brief statement describing your research background and main interests in the lab. I can also help you apply for graduate fellowships (see below).
Prospective postdocs – Please reach out to me directly with your CV and a brief statement of background and research interests. I can also help you apply for postdoctoral research fellowships.
I strongly encourage prospective students and postdocs to apply for research fellowships. I am always open to discussing research ideas and supporting such applications! I have compiled a list of some relevant deadlines here:

Prospective undergraduate students – Undergraduate students are highly encouraged to inquire about research opportunities in the lab. If interested, please contact me with your major and academic year, one paragraph about your research interests in the lab, and your programming experience (e.g., Python, R, Matlab). Most opportunities will be as a volunteer and/or for academic credit. However, funded opportunities may be available. We can also help you apply for undergraduate research funding at OSU (for example, URSA or in CAS) or nationally (NSF REU).
